How to make Windows 11 look like macOS

Start giving Windows 11 a macOS-style look in Personalization: choose a theme, wallpaper and colours, then adjust the taskbar's position and size. Glassline adds a top menu bar, a magnifying dock and Search in the middle of the screen. It works as soon as it is installed, with no themes or configuration files.

Customize Windows first

  1. Choose a Windows theme. Open Windows Settings, then Personalization, then Themes. Select an available theme to apply it.
  2. Choose your wallpaper. Under Personalization, open Background. Set Personalize your background to Picture, then browse to an image on your PC.
  3. Set your colours. Under Personalization, open Colors. Use Choose your mode to select Light or Dark, then choose an accent colour.
  4. Adjust the taskbar. Open Personalization, then Taskbar, then Taskbar behaviors. Set Taskbar position to Top and Taskbar size to Small for a compact bar along the top edge.

The taskbar options are included in the September 8, 2026 security update, KB5124008, or a later update. They roll out gradually, so an updated PC may still be waiting for them.

These settings change Windows' appearance and taskbar layout; Glassline adds its app-following menu bar, separate dock and centered Search.

Open Glassline

  1. Install Glassline from the Microsoft Store. It needs Windows 11, version 22H2 or later.
  2. Open Glassline. While it runs, the Windows taskbar and Start menu are hidden. The menu bar appears at the top and the dock at the bottom.
  3. Look at the new layout. The name of the app you are using sits at the top left. Your apps sit in the dock, which starts with the apps you kept on the Windows taskbar.
  4. Press the Windows key. Search opens in the middle of the screen. Type an app's name to find it.

The design is Glassline's own, made for Windows 11, and Glassline has no connection to Apple.

Match the glass to your desktop

The menu bar and dock use clear glass that takes the colour of your wallpaper. You can adjust the appearance after the layout is in place.

  1. Open Glassline Settings. Right-click the menu bar and choose Glassline Settings, then open Appearance.
  2. Choose Accent colour. Pick the Windows colour or one of Glassline's own colours. This changes the highlights on switches and buttons.
  3. Adjust Interface size. Make the menu bar, dock and panels smaller or larger on the display you are using.

Every option has a question mark beside it that explains what it changes.

Use the new desktop

Glassline brings Control Center, your calendar and the weather into the same app. Click the clock to open your calendar, or click the weather in the menu bar to see the forecast.

For the details of each part, read about the menu bar at the top and using the dock. If you want to adjust how the old taskbar is hidden, see the taskbar guide.

Try it right now

The home page is a working Glassline. Move over its dock, click its menu bar, open Search and Control Center.
