How to get a dock on Windows 11

Glassline gives Windows 11 a dock: install it, open it, and the dock appears at the bottom of the screen. You can keep apps there, add folders that open as stacks, and change its size and when it hides.

Get the dock on your screen

  1. Install Glassline from the Microsoft Store. It needs Windows 11, version 22H2 or later.
  2. Open Glassline. The dock is at the bottom, ready to use. You can start adding the apps and folders you want to keep close.

Keep an app in the dock

  1. Open the app you want to keep. Its icon appears in the dock while the app is open.
  2. Right-click its icon. Choose Keep in Dock.
  3. Close the app. Its icon stays in the dock so you can open it again from there.

You can also drag a program or shortcut from File Explorer onto the dock. To take an app off the dock, right-click its icon and choose Remove from Dock.

Add a folder as a stack

  1. Open File Explorer. Press the Windows key and E together, then find the folder you want.
  2. Drag the folder onto the right side of the dock. Drop it next to Downloads.
  3. Click the folder in the dock. It opens as a stack. You can drag files out of the stack when you need them.

Choose the size and spacing

Right-click the menu bar, choose Glassline Settings, then open Dock. Drag Size to make the icons smaller or bigger. Drag Icon spacing to change the gaps between them. The dock changes as you drag, so you can watch it while you adjust.

Magnification controls how much icons grow under the pointer. Choose Off to keep them the same size, Subtle for a little growth, or Large for bigger growth.

Choose when the dock hides

In the same Dock settings, use Automatically hide:

  • Over apps: the dock hides while you use an app and comes back on the empty desktop.
  • Always: it hides even on the desktop.
  • Never: it stays visible, and maximized windows stop above it.

To bring a hidden dock back, move your pointer to the bottom edge of the screen. If you want help with an option, rest the pointer on the question mark beside its name.
