How to get a Mac-style Launchpad on Windows 11

Windows 11's own alternative to a Mac-style Launchpad is in Start: open All, then choose Grid from the view dropdown. You can also reorder pinned apps and group them into folders. Glassline adds a dock-launched Launchpad with pages of apps across the screen.

Use Windows' own app grid

  1. Open Start. Find the All section, which holds your installed apps.
  2. Choose Grid. Open the view dropdown beside All and select Grid. Your installed apps appear as an alphabetical icon grid.
  3. Arrange your pinned apps. In Start's Pinned section, drag app pins into the order you want.
  4. Make a folder. Drop one pinned app onto another. Windows creates a folder containing those pins.

These options give you an alphabetical app grid and manually arranged pins with folders inside Start. Glassline adds a separate Launchpad that opens across the screen from the dock, with pages for your installed apps.

Open Launchpad from the dock

  1. Install Glassline from the Microsoft Store. Open Glassline after the installation.
  2. Open Glassline Settings. Right-click the menu bar and choose Glassline Settings, then open Dock.
  3. Turn on Show Launchpad. The Apps icon appears in the dock. The setting's help reads: The button that shows every installed app on one screen.
  4. Click the Apps icon. Launchpad opens across the screen. Your installed apps fill its pages, with your Glassline folders first.

The Apps icon starts on the right of the dock. To put it within reach, drag it out of that position and drop it anywhere among your apps.

Arrange apps and folders

  1. Drag an app into place. Move its icon to the position you want in Launchpad. Put the apps you reach for often in an order you recognize.
  2. Drop one app on another. Glassline makes a folder from the two apps, keeping them together in Launchpad.
  3. Click the folder's name. Give it a name that tells you what belongs there, such as Work or Games.

Find an app and close the grid

  1. Type an app's name. Launchpad finds the app while you type, so you can find it without browsing its pages.
  2. Press Esc when you are finished. Launchpad closes. A click on an empty place closes it too.

You can also open the same Launchpad by choosing All Apps in the logo's menu, or by clicking the grid button in Search.

For the rest of the layout, see how to get a dock on Windows 11 and how to make Windows 11 look like macOS. The design is Glassline's own, made for Windows 11, and Glassline has no connection to Apple.

Try it right now

The home page is a working Glassline. Move over its dock, click its menu bar, open Search and Control Center.
