How to show weather on the taskbar in Windows 11

Turn on Widgets in Taskbar settings to show weather on the Windows 11 taskbar. For weather at the top of the screen, Glassline replaces the taskbar with its own menu bar. The temperature and a small picture of the sky sit there, with the full forecast a click away.

Turn on weather in Windows

  1. Right-click an empty part of the taskbar. Choose Taskbar settings.
  2. Turn on Widgets. Find the switch under Taskbar items and set it to On.

This puts weather in the taskbar's Widgets area. Glassline gives weather its own place in a menu bar across the top of the screen.

Set your town in Glassline

  1. Install Glassline from the Microsoft Store. Open it to get the menu bar at the top and the dock at the bottom.
  2. Open Glassline Settings. Right-click the menu bar, choose Glassline Settings, then open Weather.
  3. Type your town and press Find. Set the place whose weather you want to follow.
  4. Look at the menu bar. The temperature and a small picture of the sky show the weather for your place.

You can also press Use my location in Weather. Glassline uses your rough position for that request and sends it to the weather service. Typing a town lets you set the place yourself.

The weather belongs to Glassline's replacement menu bar. For how that changes the desktop, see how Glassline replaces the Windows taskbar.

Open the forecast

  1. Click the weather in the menu bar. The full forecast opens.
  2. Read the next hours and the week ahead. Both are in the forecast, so you can check the hours before you leave or look ahead to another day.
  3. Press Esc. The forecast closes, leaving the temperature and sky picture in the bar.

Choose your temperature unit

  1. Return to Weather in Glassline Settings. Find Temperature unit.
  2. Choose °C or °F. Glassline shows temperatures in the unit you choose.

The starting unit follows your Windows region. With °F, the forecast shows wind in miles per hour and rain in inches. With °C, it uses kilometres per hour and millimetres.

Change or hide the weather

To follow another place, return to Weather, type its town and press Find. To hide the weather from the menu bar, press Remove next to the place.
